VIRUS AND INFECTION
Advice to minimise the spread of virus and infection and lessen danger to vulnerable pupils.
At present there appears to be an increase in various strains of virus and flu bugs. To reduce the chance of infection being spread throughout the school and causing difficulties for our pupils, we sought advice from the National Health line.
Their direction to schools is as follows:-
You should not send your child into school if they have:-
Runny nose (cold symptoms).
Flu type symptoms.
Vomiting/diarrhoea (no return to school until 24/48hours symptom free).
If your child is taking antibiotics it is recommended that you keep him/her at home for at least the first four doses (usually 24 hours).
As part of the school's health education the school nurse regularly visits classes and covers a wide range of health topics.
