Greenburn School moved to its present location in 1989. It now shares a campus with Maxwellton Primary School and, over the years, the schools have worked hard to establish meaningful links so that the pupils of each school benefit from shared learning experiences.
Greenburn and Maxwellton have developed a shared vision of the two schools as a community where all pupils are recognised and valued for their unique contribution. A programme of social and functional integration has been developed and extends to the informal curriculum with joint Breakfast and After School Clubs. This community dimension of school life is beneficial for all the children, regardless of which school they attend. We are part of the Calderglen Learning Community.
In keeping with South Lanarkshire's commitment to provide education of the highest quality, we aim to maximise the learning potential of all pupils by making learning an enjoyable and meaningful experience in a warm and supportive environment. We aim also to promote positive perceptions relating to disability by recognising the rights of all pupils to be respected as children in the process of learning.
We will match the special learning needs of pupils by having in place a highly structured but dynamic and stimulating curriculum devised and delivered by an experienced and highly motivated professional team.
We will endeavour to develop in pupils:-
A deep sense of their own personal worth.
A positive self image.A sense of purpose.
Respect for themselves and others.
Awareness of themselves and others.
A knowledge and understanding of the world in which they live.
A sense of independence consistent with abilities.A desire to learn and to achieve success.
We strive to create a positive ethos imbued with a sense of purposeful learning within a warm, welcoming, caring, dynamic environment.
